OCR Bot (@the_ocr_bot) is run by botsbyamit. This page explains what we store when you use the bot and what we do with it. The short version: your images are never stored, extracted text is kept encrypted for 7 days, and you can delete your data at any time.
What we store
- Your Telegram profile basics: your Telegram user id, first and last name, username and language setting, as Telegram shares them with every bot you use.
- Usage records: when you scanned, how many pages, which engine was used, how long it took, whether it succeeded, and your feedback (👍/👎). These records never contain your images or text.
- Extracted text, for 7 days: stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) so you can switch formats and export a result after the fact. It is deleted automatically after 7 days.
- Your settings and plan: output format, OCR language, announcement preference, credits and subscriptions.
- Payments: the plan you bought, the amount, and the payment reference from Telegram or the payment provider. We never see card numbers or UPI credentials.
What we don't store
- Your images and PDFs. They are downloaded from Telegram, processed in memory and deleted right away.
- Messages you don't send to the bot. In groups, the bot only sees messages that mention it or reply with /ocr.
Who processes your data
- Telegram delivers messages and payments in Telegram Stars.
- Google Cloud hosts the bot and its database. Premium scans use Google Cloud Vision, and AI features use Google Gemini on Vertex AI (paid tier; Google does not use this data to train its models).
- Card and UPI payments are processed by the payment provider on botsbyamit.com, under its own privacy policy.
We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Messages from us
We occasionally send announcements about the bot. You can turn them off in /settings. Free users are asked to join our updates channel @botsbyamit; the bot checks your membership only to allow free scans.
Deleting your data
Send /deletedata in the bot to delete your stored results and your profile details
(name and username). Records we must keep for accounting, such as payments, stay. Blocking the
bot stops all messages from us. For anything else, contact
@botsbyamit_support.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll say so in the bot or in @botsbyamit.
